Martin Harris joining our team!

Martin Harris has joined the Canterbury Swim School team and we’re pretty excited about it!

Martin is a former double Olympian, having attended the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and 1996 in Atlanta. Martin also competed at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada, 1998 in Kuala Lumper, 2002 in Manchester.

Between 1991-1999 Martin raced in numerous World Short and Long Course Championships, and European Championships. In 1995 he was ranked #1 in the world for 100m backstroke.

During his long swimming career Martin held the British record for 100m backstroke long course from 1989 – 2001, and broke over 50 British short course and long course records for 50m & 100m backstroke.

Martin is still active in swimming, having won gold in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke at the 2017 World Masters Games in Auckland. He has also set 9 Masters World records.

We are very fortunate to have a tutor/coach of Martin’s skill and knowledge join our team. He will be assisting with all facets of our swim school programme and squads and we know his huge wealth of experience will be of great benefit to all of our swimmers.

Welcome aboard Martin!!!
